Granite component machining is a specialized manufacturing discipline that transforms raw granite blocks into high-precision parts with defined geometries,tolerances,and surface finishes.It combines traditional stone-working principles with advanced CNC technology to meet the exacting demands of metrology,precision engineering,and advanced manufacturing.

Core Machining Processes&Capabilities

1.Primary Shaping&Milling

CNC Machining Centers:Equipped with diamond-impregnated tools(milling heads,drills,saws)to perform complex contouring,profiling,and pocketing.

Process:Removes material to create the basic form,including steps,slots,grooves,and through-holes.Handles both large-scale material removal and fine detail work.

Capability:Can machine intricate shapes,internal cavities,and precise external dimensions as defined by CAD models.

2.Precision Grinding&Lapping

Surface Grinding:Uses diamond cup wheels to achieve precise flatness,parallelism,and thickness on critical surfaces.

Lapping:A finer process using abrasive compounds on cast iron plates to produce ultra-flat surfaces(often to sub-micron levels)and specific surface textures.This is critical for metrological reference faces.

Edge Grinding:Creates precise,sharp,and burr-free edges or specific chamfers.

3.Drilling&Boring

Diamond Core Drilling:Creates through-holes or blind holes for mounting,weight reduction,or cabling.Capable of producing holes with excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy.

Precision Boring:Enlarges and finishes pre-drilled holes to very tight diameters and roundness tolerances for fitting bushings or shafts.

4.Threading&Insert Installation

Thread Milling:Diamond tools can cut internal threads directly into granite for light-duty applications,though this is less common.

Standard Practice:Machining precise counterbores and installing stainless steel,Invar,or epoxy-set threaded inserts to provide robust,reliable threaded connections without stressing the granite.
