This is the most crucial step in preventing rust. If the environment is humid or the surface plate is idle for a short period, a thin layer of lightweight anti-rust oil can be applied for protection.

Deep maintenance should be carried out weekly or periodically, including comprehensive cleaning of the sides, bottom, and interior of the T-slot of the platform, and careful inspection of the working surface for any new scratches or rust spots. If rust is found, it should be immediately treated gently with very fine sandpaper or specialized rust remover, then cleaned and repainted with anti-rust oil. During long-term storage, a thick layer of anti-rust grease should be evenly applied to all surfaces, and the platform should be wrapped with anti-rust paper or neutral film. It is essential to ensure that the platform is placed steadily according to the designed support points to prevent deformation caused by its own weight.

The entire maintenance process should adhere to three fundamental principles: first, avoid (avoiding scratching by hard objects and drastic temperature changes); second, protect (protect against moisture and rust); and third, schedule (regular inspections and oiling). Proper maintenance can not only maintain the geometric accuracy of the platform over the long term but also significantly extend its service life as a cornerstone of workshop precision.
